I posted the following discussion on my page. The first one was quite a hit, but I thought it has run its course and closed it accordingly. As the Ning creator you have the ability to send a message to all the "friends" that you have accepted. Please consider sharing this with the entire network. I think it would be interesting to see what folks really think about the effectiveness of the dinners. Thanks for your consdieration!

It seems that the first discussion I posted was quite a hit in terms of responses. I think it morphed into some interesting, albiet not on point, and into side, side, and very sideways discussions.

So what I want to know is what is the effect of the dinners?

I know that the one I attended was very cordial and formatted, but I feel that I didn't learn very much about the faiths I was hoping to learn about. Now that this Ning social network has been created and its membership greatly expanded, as a direct result of the dinners, I wonder where this dialog will go? Will it be a vehicle for a few pontificators to split hairs over whether or not forgiveness is "good" thing or will some folks come together to learn how we can be so very different AND live together?

So, post away? Is the AFP to become an exercise in semantics or will we make some headway towards not only understanding one other but solving some very real problems in the world?

Hello Calvin,

Happy belated Samhain!

I'm sorry that I didn't find out about the dinner until too late to sign up, but perhaps next year...

I like the AFP logo, but I must ask - what are the emblems to either side of the Eight-Fold Wheel? The one on the right looks quite familiar, but the one to the left is totally unknown to me (and I hope that the next time I see you, I will be wearing my Brewers' Witch BBS T-shirt...).

Goddess Bless,
Jim

and to everyone except you as Cap'n)

If this is a repeat, I am sorry. I wrote last night and somehow mangaged to delete it......Howdy! I am HUGE fan of yours having heard you speak at various venues/events around town....I know - "Get in line, buddy!" I happened to see the Ning mention in the AFP link in the IFM e-mail. I have a Ning page over at We Are Teachers http://imagine.weareteachers.com/profile/kjones11 and I have spent the majority of photo, video, and blog posting time there. An Emerson buddy of mine and I are going to host a AFP dinner and I am looking forward to it. I wear the the Boniuk Center pin I picked up from you at the Gnostic Gospel series you did at EUU and am always on the look out for an opportunity to listen to you again. Thanks for setting this up and if you need any help with any of it, I would be happy to do so. Hope to e-see you on the Ning!
